{"id":1388,"date":"2021-05-05T07:14:57","date_gmt":"2021-05-05T07:14:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/opm-project.org\/?p=1388"},"modified":"2021-05-31T06:05:08","modified_gmt":"2021-05-31T06:05:08","slug":"opm-release-2021-04","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/opm-project.org\/?p=1388","title":{"rendered":"OPM RELEASE 2021.04"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear OPM Users,<\/p>\n<p>It is my pleasure to announce that the binary packages for the 2021.04 OPM release are now available for RHEL 7 and 8, as well as for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (code name Focal Fossa) and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (code name Bionic Beaver).\u00a0 The Ubuntu packages may be downloaded from the OPM Project&#8217;s Personal Package Archive (ppa:opm\/ppa).\u00a0 If you have not already included this in your package sources, you can do so with the commands<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt-add-repository ppa:opm\/ppa\r\nsudo apt-get update\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Then you can install the simulator and its prerequisites using the command<\/p>\n<pre>sudo apt install libopm-simulators-bin\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Alternatively, you can install opm via pip\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/pypi.org\/project\/opm\/\">https:\/\/pypi.org\/project\/opm\/<\/a>) using<\/p>\n<pre>pip install opm<\/pre>\n<p>I would also like to use the opportunity to thank\u00a0all the contributors for their effort in improving the simulator.<\/p>\n<p>Best Regards,<\/p>\n<p>Tor Harald Sandve<\/p>\n<p>Norce<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Release notes 2021.04<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The current release consists of some new features and various improvements and bug fixes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Highlights from the 2021.04 release is support for numerical aquifers, gas lift optimization, network models and support for diffusive flow.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New features:<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gas lift optimization. With gas lift optimization enabled the simulator can allocate gas lift to wells and groups.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Numerical aquifers. Numerical aquifers allow for flexible and efficient inclusion of pressure support from adjacent aquifers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support for wells split between several process domains. This potentially gives better parallel grid partitioning. The well split is only implemented for standard wells.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Network option. Allows for cross well\/group coupling through tubing head pressure.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Diffusion. Diffusive effects can optionally be included in the simulation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WELPI-based scaling of a well\u2019s connection transmissibility factors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Three-point vertical scaling of relative permeability functions (keywords KRGR, KRORG, KRORW, and KRWR).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support for well and group names with more than eight (8) characters in summary output.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expanded possible actions in ACTIONX, including WELPI and UDQ updates.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support for IMPORT keyword in GRID section.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Improvements and fixes:<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Various fixes for thermal simulations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fixes in the GCONINJE implementation<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support for aquifers in MPI runs<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fixes in the boundary setup when using the OPM specific BC keyword.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Correct inclusion of the group efficiency for the top group level\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Improved convergence of the multi-segmented well equations.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Various MPI related fixes.
