The effects of the polymer mixing are simulated\u00a0\u00a0based on the Todd-Longstaff\u00a0mixing model, and adsorption, \u00a0dead pore space, and permeability\u00a0reduction effects are also considered. A logarithmic shear thinning\/thickening model is \u00a0incorporated with the recent OPM Release 2015.10.<\/p>\n<p>The following is a 3D example used to demonstrate the use of the polymer model. The data can be download from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/OPM\/opm-data\/tree\/master\/polymer_test_suite\/3D_plyshlog\" target=\"_blank\">opm-data<\/a>.\u00a0To run the examples, just type the following command in the corresponding folders.<\/p>\n<p>flow_polymer \u00a0run.param<\/p>\n<p>The following image show the configuration of example. It has two production wells in the top layers and one injection well in the bottom layers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/opm-project.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/configuration_3d_polymer.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-595\" src=\"http:\/\/opm-project.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/configuration_3d_polymer.png\" alt=\"configuration_3d_polymer\" width=\"908\" height=\"604\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The following is the initial state of the example.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/opm-project.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/initial_saturation_3d_polymer.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-594\" src=\"http:\/\/opm-project.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/initial_saturation_3d_polymer.png\" alt=\"initial_saturation_3d_polymer\" width=\"908\" height=\"604\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The flooding process begins with a 560-day pure water injection, then a 400-day polymer injection with concentration 1.0 kg\/m^3. Finally, a 1530-day pure water injection is performed.<\/p>\n<p>Four different kinds of configuration is used. The first one is that no polymer is injected, which is achieved by changing the polymer concentration to be 0 in the above flooding process.\u00a0The second one is with polymer injection, while no shear effects are considered. The third one is with polymer injection and shear-thinning effects.
