Hi Alun,

The easiest for you is to install opm-upscaling from packages, similarly as you install Flow. There are afaik no improvements to that repository since the packages was made.

To answer your question, no, you do not need to uninstall anything. The build system in OPM is designed specifically to make it easy for system installation, and compiled from source versions, to co-exist. You simply need to download all opm-modules (up to the one you are interested in) side by side, and compile them in the order they depend on eachother. They will automatically link to the neighbouring folder rather than trying to link to the installed versions.

Not to worry - I just thought I had done something dumb!

I already installed opm-flow (and checked it runs ...).   Some further questions:
1. Do I need to uninstall opm-flow (presumably with sudo apt-get remove libopm-simulators-bin) and then rebuild OPM?
2. If so, do I need to be in any particular directory when I build OPM from scratch?

Sorry for the questions but this is the first time I have had to actually install anything manually on Linux

I have installed the required packages (including autoconf) but when I type

  autoreconf -i

I get the following error message:

  autoreconf: 'configure.ac' or configure.in' is required.

I ignored this and typed

./configure

but got this error message

bash: ./configure: No such file or directory
