I will be the release manager for the upcoming 2026.10 release of the OPM Flow simulator. This post is mostly to alert users that a new public release will be coming and to inform developers that we should start preparing to finalise the work that’s ready to go into the release and to start tagging open and prospective PRs intended for the release with the milestone “Release 2026.10”.

My initial timeline for the release work is as follows

•  Feature freeze for 2026.10: Thursday the 8th of October at 6pm CEST. New features merged into the master branch after this time will not be a part of the 2026.10 OPM release.
•  First release candidate for 2026.10: Thursday the 15th of October at 6pm CEST. Development work between feature freeze and first release candidate should be focused on stabilisation and testing.
•  Second rlease candidate for 2026.10: Thursday the 22nd of October at 6pm CEST. Development work between the first and second release candidates should be focused on testing and bug fixing if needed.
•  Final release of 2026.10: Thursday the 29th of October at 6pm CET.

Prior experience suggests that this timeline may slide, but this is the plan as of right now. Binary packages for the release candidates, primarily for Ubuntu, will be announced on the mailing list as they become available.
